Oct 7, 2023 R-TEAM Robotics Club Meeting
We discussed rule changes for the 2024 Mechwarfare competition next year in April. It was decided to remove the paragraph in the rules regarding cam driven legs. In its place put in a rule that all legs must have at least 2 degrees of freedom. It was also decided to install permanent street markings with white tape on the black arena floor mats to speed up repeated arena setup.
We also discussed shortening the front buildings by just cutting off a floor or two. This measure is still on the table. The new sidewalk islands allow us to move the building groups around to some degree. It was decided that we should block the middle path by putting the middle two building groups together or inserting some new feature in-between the two building groups to block the diagonal long view. This would prevent opponents from knowing which initial path was chosen during a match. Additional new arena cameras and displays were also talked about and are still on the table for further discussion. David showed us a newer improved camera.
A team of two light weight machines were discussed. The advantages of a duo-team of light weights would be half size target plates & ability to hit an opponent from two directions. The half size plates are hard to hit at distance. Each machine in a duo team would have maybe 10 health points.
The three new videos from Robogames 2023 are attached below.
